Social Media Marketing is a very essential asset to have when you’re running a business. It allows you to leave a digital footprint as well as engaging and interacting with your audience. There are many ways to enhance your social media presence. Today we are going to give you 10 tips for social media marketing that will help you increase your results.
1. Know your audience:
Understanding your target demographics will help you significantly. Age, gender, interests, behaviors, and pain points are all crucial demographics that you should know about your audience. The more your audience relates to the product or service you’re advertising the more engaged they will be. Engagement is key when it comes to building a strong social media presence
2. Choose the right platform:
Choosing the right platform is essential to building your social media presence. Different platforms better suit different audiences. For example, for platforms like Instagram and TikTok you’re more likely to reach a younger demographic whereas for platforms like Facebook you’re more likely to reach an older demographic. It’s good to have a presence on as many social platforms as possible, but you want to use these different platforms by curating the correct content for the correct demographic.
3. Develop a Content Strategy:
Creating a content strategy is important. You don’t want to just be slinging out pointless content that doesn’t have any consistent message or outreach. Be creative and dynamic with your content strategy. Create a calendar with a mix of educational content, promotional offers, user-generated content, behind-the-scenes, story telling posts, and any other fun content ideas you can come up with. Develop a strategy that you can commit to and don’t look back or give up.
4. Stay Consistent:
Once you have developed a content strategy for your social media marketing it is CRUCIAL that you stay consistent with it and continue posting with a consistent brand voice, visual style, and posting schedule even when you don’t see results. Social media marketing is a long term investment for your business. It can take 3-6 months to start seeing results, but once you start proving consistency and gaining the trust of your audience then you are guaranteed to see growing results not only in your social media analytics, but in your conversion rates and lead generation.
5. Engage with your audience:
Engaging with your audience builds their trust with you. You can engage with your audience in different ways but so key ways would be responding to comments, replying to DMs, and sharing user content. Social media is a two way conversation.
6. Use visuals that stand out:
High quality images, videos, infographics, and branded graphics tend to work better than just plain text. Give your audience some excitement to engage in by giving them visually pleasing aspects. It is very important how you portray your content. If your content looks like you put effort into it, then your audience will trust that you’re trying to generate the best content possible for them. If your work looks lazy, then your audience isn’t going to be attracted and your engagement will fall which will result in less impressions and external outreach for future posts.
7. Leverage hashtags wisely:
Use relevant and trending hashtags to expand outreach. Be careful not to overstuff your hashtags though. Too many hashtags can hurt or damage your external outreach. Be strategic with your hashtags by taking into consideration which hashtags can help benefit your external outreach the most for each individual post. Once you gauge which hashtags are most effective with building your audience, continue to utilize a mix of successful hashtags and new hashtags to continue expanding your audience.
8. Track metrics and adjust:
Monitoring your key performance indicators (KPIs) is very, very important. Some KPIs that you should be tracking include engagement rate, click-rates, follower growth, and conversion rates. Following tips 1-7 are completely useless if you do not monitor your analytics and adjust your strategy accordingly. If certain posts have low engagement then find new content to replace that content. If certain posts generate high engagement then find ways to blend your future content with what’s successful to keep creating dynamic content for your audience.
9. Use paid ads strategically:
Results for paid ads can vary depending on how you utilize them. Run ad campaigns to boost your visibility or point users to a landing page. It is smart to use paid ads for posts that are ALREADY popular among your audience and generate a lot of engagement. If your existing audience enjoys the content, then there’s a good chance that people that aren’t already a part of your audience will too. Don’t use paid ads to try and boost engagement on low-engaging content. This will only waste your money and not generate the conversions you are looking for or expecting.
10. Stay current with trends:
Social media trends evolve at a very rapid pace. It’s important to take advantage of popular trends that align with your brand voice and audience. It’s important that you keep up with what’s relevant so that your content seems relevant and up to date to your audience.
I know this blog post is titled, “10 Tips for Social Media Marketing”, but I am going to throw in two bonus tips that I think will benefit you with your social media marketing journey.
11. Collaborate with influencers or partners:
If you get the chance to work with an influencer or partner that aligns with your brand’s voice, brand’s message, and your content strategy then take advantage of that. Working with other influencers or partners will give you the opportunity to reach their audience. It’s a win-win for both parties. They get to reach your audience and you get to reach their audience.
12. Repurpose content across platforms:
Repurposing your content across different platforms is an easy way to create dynamic content for your audience on all platforms. For example, let’s use this blog post for example. I’m giving you tips for social media marketing. I can reach our other audiences on different platforms by creating content that will resonate with each audience. If I want to reach my YouTube audience, then I would condense my blog content into a 10-15 minute video, creating a short 60 second breakdown for shorts and reels, and creating a visual image linking this blog post for Facebook. At the end of the day, the more content you generate between all of your platforms the more likely you are to build a solid audience.
