6 Key Steps to Building A Brand & Business
There are many different ways and steps to building a foundation for your company. The beauty of content creation and brand marketing as a whole is that there’s not one set way to find success. There are many different techniques to choose from. In the previous article, we talked about how Innovative Society was created. In this article, we’re going to dive deeper into the process of how we built our foundation and what we continue to do to try and build our brand and business. Hopefully some of our tips and tricks will make the process a little easier for you.
Step 1: Pick a Target Audience
This one seemed to be fairly simple considering before this business started we both did what we do now for other companies. We decided we wanted to work with anyone from personal projects, to small businesses, to large businesses, you name it. We believe no matter the size of the brand or business, content creation and marketing efforts should be accessible. Many different brands and businesses should focus on one target audience while starting out. Once you establish a good foundation in one target audience, you can expand to others as you please.
Step 2: Creating a Name
Coming up with the perfect brand name is more difficult than you think. It took us about three days to finally come up with a name that we both liked, that had a good ring to it, suited our market, and wasn’t taken. We wanted to come up with something unique, professional, and something that established what market we’re in. You want your name to be professional, unique, and recognizable. Your audience won’t remember complex names, so keep it short and sweet and don’t rush the process of creating the perfect name to capture your audience and brand’s purpose.
Step 3: Branding
Branding yourself or your business is a VERY crucial part of starting a business. You want your customers/clients to recognize your logo, tagline, color schemes, and many other branding tactics that go into making your brand unique, appealing, and recognizable all at the same time.
Step 4: Buying a Domain and Setting Up a Website
Every brand or business needs a website. It is necessary. You need a place your future clients/customers can land to understand your services in further detail. The more information you provide up front, the less questions or doubts the client will have. This website must be appealing, easy to navigate, and easy to locate.
Step 5: Building a Foundation
This step will require a lot of time and effort, but will always be changing as your business grows. The point of building a foundation helps keep your business flow solid and organized. From CRM’s, Project Management Systems, Workflows, Hosting services, and much more. Finding the right applications for these processes is crucial. You will find yourself moving platforms frequently as you expand and grow and that is perfectly normal. Just make sure you’re keeping your costs manageable and your applications running smoothly for maximum production.
Step 6: Marketing and Making Connections
Marketing is difficult when starting out a business, but can become easier the wider your audience becomes. Our recommendations are to start advertising where it’s free with no budget at all when you’re starting out. Some key examples would be social media, word of mouth, trading services for advertising, SEO and Keyword research. Organic results can be difficult to achieve, but can become a crucial part of the growth of your brand/business once you establish a presence. The key is consistency. Even when you don’t see results, you keep posting and working towards gaining traction.
